How can smartwatches become a “trusted companion” for expectant mothers during pregnancy?

Pregnancy is a time filled with joy but also accompanied by anxiety. Clinical studies have shown that smartwatch features designed for the third trimester—such as “fetal movement counting” and “contraction tracking”—can reduce expectant mothers’ anxiety about seeking medical care by 37%.

A decrease in fetal movements is an early sign of fetal hypoxia. Traditional methods require pregnant women to manually count movements at fixed times each day, but they often forget to do so. Smartwatches use accelerometers to monitor subtle abdominal vibrations. Combined with AI algorithms, they automatically identify “continuous fetal movements” and generate hourly fetal movement frequency curves in the app. A study of 200 pregnant women showed that the accuracy of the watch’s automatic counting reached 89.3% compared to manual counting, with a false-negative rate of only 5%. For contraction tracking, expectant mothers simply need to press the watch’s physical button when they feel a contraction. The watch automatically records the start time, duration, and interval, and sends a “recommendation to go to the hospital” alert when the “5-1-1 rule” (every 5 minutes, lasting 1 minute, for 1 hour consecutively) is met. Additionally, blood oxygen monitoring during pregnancy can help detect gestational sleep apnea early and reduce the risk of preeclampsia.

Bringing new life into the world is a wonderful journey, but it shouldn’t be a lonely one.

Venus Smart Shop’s smartwatch uses technology to provide expectant mothers with round-the-clock support and peace of mind.
