How smart rings can help women navigate menopause smoothly

Approximately 75% of women going through menopause experience vasomotor symptoms (hot flashes and night sweats), which significantly impact their sleep and quality of life. However, hot flashes are difficult to predict. By continuously monitoring fluctuations in skin temperature and changes in heart rate, the smart ring has, for the first time, enabled the automatic recording of hot flash episodes and analysis of their triggers.

The smart ring’s sensors measure skin temperature 20 times per second. When the algorithm detects a rise in skin temperature of more than 0.8°C within 30 seconds, accompanied by an increase in heart rate of at least 10 bpm, it classifies this as a “hot flash episode.” Users can view their daily hot flash frequency in the app (e.g., “15 episodes today, concentrated between 2 and 4 p.m.”) and record triggering factors (e.g., “drinking hot coffee,” “high stress”). Long-term data analysis can help doctors develop personalized intervention plans, such as adjusting hormone replacement therapy dosages or recommending the avoidance of specific foods. An 8-week pilot study found that women who tracked hot flashes using the smart ring and received behavioral recommendations saw an average 41% reduction in hot flash frequency and a 53% decrease in subjective discomfort scores. Additionally, the ring monitors sleep fragmentation caused by night sweats, helping women identify more suitable sleepwear materials and room temperature settings.

Menopause is not a disease, but its symptoms deserve to be taken seriously.

The Venus Smart Shop smart ring empowers every woman to understand her body’s changes and embrace this new phase of life with confidence.
